Pipe connectors

Pipe connectors damp vibration phenomena and prevent sound propagation

STENFLEX® pipe connectors are installed specifically to eliminate undesirable sound transmission and absorb vibration occurance in pipelines. Steel or rubber-metal pipe connectors are used as appropriate for the application. Rubber-metal pipe connectors are used in particular in residential buildings, hospitals and schools. Here noise produced by apparatus, pumps or burners can be very disruptive. The rubber materials used increase the absorption capability of STENFLEX® pipe connectors for optimum noise damping in building services engineering.

The properties of STENFLEX® pipe connectors at a glance:

  • Eliminating sound transmission, noise damping
  • Damping of vibration phenomena

Difference between rubber-metal pipe connectors and steel pipe connectors

Rubber-metal pipe connectors

Structure: Rubber body with fully embedded metal flanges.

Damping, movement absorption: Rubber-metal pipe connectors are able to damp noise and vibration phenomena generated by apparatus, motors or pumps. Unlike steel pipe connectors, rubber-metal pipe connectors are not able to absorb movement.

Fixed points: Stable pipeline fixed points and a correct and proper pipeline are required to absorb axial forces.

Steel pipe connections

Structure: Steel bellows with damped adapters (steel flange with rubber absorber)

Damping, movement absorption: Steel pipe connectors are able to damp noise and vibration phenomena generated by apparatus, motors or pumps. They are also able to absorb movement.

Fixed points: Stable pipeline fixed points and a correct and proper pipeline are required to absorb axial forces.
